Would you expect to be satisfied if the only time you ate a meal was on Sunday? Of course not! Now ask yourself. Do you think you will be spiritually satisfied if Sunday is the only time you nourish yourself spiritually?
- Matthew 4:4: "Man was not designed to 'live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God'"
How to nourish yourself spiritually.
Everyday... Everyday find some time to be alone with Jesus Christ and His word. Do more than read one or two verses. A verse a day is not enough to properly satisfy your growth to be strong enough to withstand the battles that are coming. Build a healthy relationship with Jesus Christ and you will feel the joy and the strength that comes from this relationship.
Look at this time your should be setting aside for Jesus from this angle. It's an appointment. Jesus is, more important that an appointment. But, how often do you miss your appointments?
Be serious about spending time alone with Jesus Christ. Have your bible and if you can, have a pen and paper to keep notes about what you are learning. Or specific prayers you would like to come back too.
Begin your time with Jesus in Prayer. Open your heart to Him. Jesus already knows what lays on there so don't hold back. When you do catch your self holding back take a second, rewind and bare everything out to Him. Jesus wants you to lay your burdens at His feet. Trusting someone to not let you down is hard. Jesus Christ is more than just someone. He is the way, the life, and our true savior.
- John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
This quiet time is relationship building at its finest. If Jesus is your rock, your anchor, tell Him how much you apricate Him being there for you. Express your Love to Him. Share with Him how you need His power in your life. Ask Him to teach you, discipline you. Tell Him things as well. Jesus is not going to share your secrets. Scary to say but He may compel you tell your testimonies aka secrets.
This is a quiet time for a reason, you have to be still to allow Jesus to speak to you. Turn the phone off, outside distractions, don't be in rush to get anywhere. Have your heart committed to being with Him, Jesus Christ!
Your bible reading will be a central part of this. One way to hear Jesus speak to you is by rewriting a passage you have just read in your own words. If you are not be able to understand what Jesus is trying to say to you is because He is not revealing all of the answers to you at once. Build a good relationship with Jesus Christ, seek Him and then go from there. Allow Jesus to lead.
- Jeremiah 29:13 – “If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.”
